When you empower a woman, you elevate her community. This is the core concept behind many of the State Department’s public diplomacy efforts: a ripple effect occurs when we believe in women and invest in their potential.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, Consul General Fong enjoyed the opportunity to hear from a dynamic group of Thessaloniki women entrepreneurs, teachers, developers, engineers and robot designers about their challenges in the scholastic and professional worlds, the optics of competing with men in technology, the expectations of colleagues about having a family and what Greece needs to promote entrepreneurship in society.
By providing women entrepreneurs access to training, mentors, and networks, we support the U.S. goals of advancing women’s efforts to become financially independent through entrepreneurship and utilize their economic strength to improve their communities around the world.
