Event: National weather reports indicate strong winds and heavy rains throughout much of Greece September 27-30 and the possibility of a “medicane,” (combination of Mediterranean and hurricane) in the Ionian Sea southwest of the Greek mainland. Authorities shut down many ferries and schools, and flight delays are expected as the weather worsens. Phones and internet connectivity are currently operational.
Actions to Take:
- Seek secure shelter
- Notify friends and family of your safety
- Make contingency plans to leave
- Have evacuation plans that do not rely on U.S. government assistance
- Review your security plans
- Monitor local media for updates
