
“Solidarity Now,” a network of organizations and people who work to assist those hurt by recession in Greece, opened its first Solidarity Center in Thessaloniki on January 17. The Center cooperates with several local NGOs to operate as a host institution that offers assistance in legal matters, labor issues, social solidarity, medical support, psychological support, and consulting. Consul Sanders mentioned the challenges of working towards improving civil society and the value of efforts like Solidarity Now as a force for progress around the world.
