Reception in Honor of U.S. Participation in eHealth Forum 2014 (May 13, 2014)

Ambassador’s Remarks
Reception in Honor of U.S. Participation
in eHealth Forum 2014

May 13, 2014

(as prepared)

Minister Georgiadis, esteemed members of the Greek government, and honored guests from throughout Europe and the United States, good afternoon.  I’d like to welcome you to this reception in honor of the U.S. companies participating in eHealth Forum 2014.

I would particularly like to congratulate Minister Georgiadis and his capable team for organizing this year’s eHealth Forum in Athens.  I would also like to express my thanks to him for our close cooperation in both organizing U.S. participation at the eHealth Forum and in building ever closer ties between our governments and the private sector.

As you may know, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker visited Athens in November.  Since then, we have been working closely with our Greek partners, including the Ministry, to follow up on a number of issues U.S. businesses raised with her in order to make progress that will ultimately improve the investment climate here.  That’s good for both Greece and its international partners.

The U.S. companies and industry associations represented here tonight offer world-class eHealth technologies and services.  They have proven to be valuable partners to Greece and other EU member states, and I urge you to take advantage of the opportunity both talk to them tonight as well as visit their booths in the U.S. Pavilion.
