Message for U.S. Citizens:  Multiple strikes affecting Athens and ferries to/from Piraeus (Tuesday 18 February 2020)

Locations:  Athens and locations throughout Greece with ferry service

Events:  The following strikes are scheduled for Tuesday 18 February:

  • Electric trains and Metro will be on a 24-hour strike, starting from 05:00 on Tuesday.
  • Blue buses and Trolleys will be on a 24-hour strike, starting from 05:00 on Tuesday.
  • Railways will be on a 24-hour strike, starting from 05:00 on Tuesday.
  • Trams will be on a 24-hour strike, starting from 05:00 on Tuesday.
  • Ferries will be on a 24-hour strike.

Actions to Take: 

  • Review your travel plans.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep a low profile.
