The U.S. Embassy co-hosted a Customs and Border Protection document training for the Hellenic National Police, Athens International Airport personnel, airline personnel and their security companies. The goal of the training was to enhance border security by helping relevant personnel more effectively identify improperly documented passengers. The training, under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Carrier Liaison Program, provided Greek participants the opportunity to engage in hands-on instruction in fraudulent document identification, passenger assessment, impostor identification and traveler document verification. Workshop participants examined dozens of security features common to travel documents during the innovative training.
