Health Alert:  U.S. Embassy Athens – Ban on non-EU Citizens Entering Greece Extended

Ban on Entry of non-EU Citizens:  The Greek government extended the ban on the entry of non-EU citizens into Greece until June 15.  Exceptions include spouses or minor children of EU/Schengen nationals, long-term residents, members of government delegations, and passengers in transit. 

Flights:  Several airlines announced their summer plans for direct flights between the United States and Greece.  For those seeking to return to the United States, commercial flights with connections are available.  See flight information on our website. 

Emergency Consular Services Only:  Routine consular appointments for passports and notarial services remain suspended.  We will provide emergency services to U.S. citizens on a case-by-case basis.  U.S. citizens with verifiable emergency situations and confirmed travel tickets may contact us at to request consideration.  We will update our website when we re-open for appointments.
