Representatives of the career centers of the Technical University of Crete, the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, theTechnological Educational Institute of Chania-Crete, Greece, the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences, and the Co-Founder of Effect, kicked off their International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in New York and New Jersey to explore how universities operate in the U.S. to contribute to youth entrepreneurship, innovation and job creation

The participants visited Stevens Institute of Technology where two of the Vice Provosts are Greek (VP of Academics Chassapis and VP for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Christodoulatos); Princeton University whose career center (again, headed by Greek American Evangeline Kubu) has a long tradition in tapping into alumni to help students succeed in the job market; Rutgers University, that is running the very successful ‘Recharging the Youth’ program in partnership with the Agricultural University of Athens and the American Farm School Thessaloniki with funds from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation; and Montclair State University whose impressive Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship helps students from the broader New Jersey area develop their own entrepreneurial endeavors.

This is the third time that the U.S. Embassy in Athens is sponsoring a study visit for career center directors of Greek university and technical colleges to promote youth employment in Greece.
