Consul Highlights Global Efforts to Counter Violent Extremism at Model UN Simulation Exercise, February 13, 2015

Consul Sanders addressed a group of 400 high-school students, representing 32 student delegations from ten different countries at the opening of the 10th Anatolia College MUN exercise on February 13, 2014.  Consul Robert Sanders congratulated the students for their commitment and participation and encouraged them to continue and explore their opportunities; build their leadership skills and their knowledge of world affairs, and perhaps contribute to the world as adults.  Consul Sanders spoke about his own experiences as an MUN delegate in his high-school years and how this experience helped him realize he wanted a career in the diplomatic corps.  Consul Sanders talked to the students about current threats to world peace springing from the rise of violent extremism and explained U.S. initiatives to Counter Violent Extremism through engagement, education, and building partnerships in the world.
